Description
The 555 timer is a well known, easy to use timer that does not require complicated external circuitry.
The 555 timer can operate in three modes:
- Monostable mode: the 555 acts as a pulse generator - generating a fixed-length pulse when triggered.
- Astable mode: the 555 acts as an oscillator - providing clean square-wave clock signals.
- Bistable mode: the 555 acts as a basic flip-flop.
