Silicon Labs CP2102 USB to TTL Serial Adapter
Description
The USB to TTL serial adapter is based on the popular Silicon Labs CP2102 chipset and is an excellent way to connect TTL serial devices to a PC through a USB port.
The adapter comes shrink-wrapped in a transparent insulating sleeve to protect the adapter during use.
This USB to TTL serial adapter is ideal for many uses, including:
- Programming microprocessors such as ARM, AVR, etc
- Working with computing hardware such as routers and switches
- Serial communication with many devices such as GPS devices
- Serial terminals on devices like the Raspberry Pi
The adapter has 5 pins:
- 3.3V: a 3.3V voltage output
- 5V: a 5V voltage output
- TXD: Serial Transmit Data pin
- RXD: Serial Receive Data pin
- GND: Ground
The 3.3V and 5V pins are ideal for powering small devices such as homemade circuits. These pins should not be connected when a device has an external power pack as this may damage both devices.
